Invasive Species Project Coordinator (1 opening; based in Geneva)
Advance the PRISM’s mission by developing, implementing, and coordinating a diverse portfolio of programs concerning invasive species prevention, monitoring, and control.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and position is open until filled. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field, knowledge of invasive species and their impact on ecosystems, proficiency in GIS, strong communication skills, organizational skills, and time management abilities, and experience with project management. Lead Watercraft Inspection Steward (2 openings; based in Geneva)
Gain invaluable experience as a supervisor to over 10 watercraft inspection stewards while enhancing your aquatic invasive species knowledge, GIS skills, and field coordination and management.
This position begins April 6th. Preferred qualifications include a background in environmental science, ecology, or related fields, strong communication skills, knowledge of aquatic invasive species and regional ecosystmems, reliable transportation, the ability to work independently, experience leading field crews, and more. Watercraft Inspection Steward (22 openings; based at boat launches throughout Finger Lakes region)
Be the first line of defense against aquatic invaders—inspect boats for aquatic invasive species, educate boaters and protect our lakes; postings throughout the region. Locations for these positions include but are not limited to public boat launches on Hemlock, Canadice, Honeoye, Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Owasco, and Otisco Lakes; in addition to parts of the Erie Canal and Lake Ontario in Rochester, NY.
Training for this position begins May 18th. Preferred qualifications include a background in environmental science, ecology, or related fields, strong communication skills, knowledge of aquatic invasive species and regional ecosystems, reliable transportation, the ability to work independently, and more. Aquatic Invasive Species Technician (4 openings; based in Geneva)
Enjoy the water and protect the Finger Lakes this summer by surveying and managing aquatic invasive species and learning about these freshwater ecosystems.

Terrestrial Invasive Species Technician (4 openings; based in Geneva)
Help protect terrestrial ecosystems of the Finger Lakes while gaining hands-on experience with invasive species management, ecological assessments, and partner collaboration.
Preferred qualifications include experience identifying terrestrial invasive species, basic understanding of invasive species ecology, willingness to apply pesticides, experience doing environmental fieldwork, comfort using field equipment and technology, and more. Lead Giant Hogweed Technician (1 opening; based in Geneva)
Serve in a critical role in protecting biodiversity and public health in the Finger Lakes by supervising 2 technicians, overseeing survey and control operations, managing field data, and coordinating with landowners.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience working specifically with giant hogweed or other high-risk invasive species, NYS Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain), familiarity with NYS DEC giant hogweed response protocols, experience using iMapInvasives, GIS, or other invasive species data management platforms, and experience working with public-facing projects or landowner coordination. Giant Hogweed Technician (2 openings; based in Geneva)
Serve in a critical role protecting biodiversity and public health in the Finger Lakes while gaining specialized experience in hihg-priority invasive species survey and control.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience controlling giant hogweed, familiarity with herbicide application techniques and invasive plant management best practices, a Pesticide Applicator License (or willingness to obtain during employment), experience with data collection platforms such as iMapInvasives or similar systems, and experience working near waterbodies, roads rights-of-way, or on private property.
