HYDRILLA HUNT AND LEARN
You are invited to a workshop presented by Dr. Bruce Gilman and Hilary R. Mosher to learn about Aquatic Invasive Species plaguing our region and how you can help!
When: October 21st, 10am-2pm
Agenda:
10:00- welcome and introduction to the group
10:15-11:00- overview of aquatic invasive species- characteristics of invasive species, why are we concerned, and what we can do
11:00-12:30pm- identification and habitat of various aquatic invasive species such as: water chestnut, Hydrilla, starry stonewort, etc. and their native counterparts- depending on the weather, we will go to the pond where Hydrilla is located and sample the pond
12:30-1:00 break for lunch
1:00-2pm- management and sampling techniques, reporting of invasive species and using iMapInvasives in the field
