Dylan Hurd joined the team in May of 2016 as a giant hogweed control team member funded by The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service. Dylan is now beginning his third giant hogweed control season for the Finger Lakes Institute (FLI) and Finger Lakes PRISM (FL-PRISM). Dylan is a New York State certified commercial pesticide applicator and oversees the pesticide application of the two other FLI giant hogweed control team members.

In the off season, Dylan helps other ongoing FLI projects. He has been involved with the Watercraft Steward Program, Hemlock Wooly Adelgid monitor/survey, Mile-A-Minute survey/control, Hydrilla monitor/survey, and public outreach/education workshops. Dylan also presents with Patty Wakefield-Brown at several outreach events on giant hogweed and its look-alikes. He also attends County Water Quality meetings to keep counties up to date on current projects and threats to the Finger Lakes Region. Dylan received his B.S. from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
