Dorothea Mildenberger
Dorothea Mildenberger joined the FLI in 2021 as a member of the Hydrilla field crew. As a technician she worked with a team conducting macrophyte surveys to detect and monitor localized populations of the invasive plant Hydrilla verticillate. and other high-risk aquatic invasive species.
Dorothea graduated from Eckerd College in 2020 with a B.S. in Marine Science: Concentration in Biology. While at college, she worked on acoustic soundscape research characterizing dolphin populations and habitat in the Tampa Bay area. Back in New York, Dorothea completed an internship at the DEC performing field surveys for native mussels across NYS watersheds. As a native of Brockport, she is excited to continue monitoring and protecting the beautiful Finger Lakes.
